What RPL Means?
RPL stands for -
Recognition of
Prior Leaning.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a nationally recognised competency evaluation process. Identifying, documenting, assessing and certifying prior non-formal and informal knowledge and experience. In order to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes.
Simply termed, RPL provides an opportunity for people to acquire qualifications or credits. Which excel towards a qualification or exemptions. Boycotting the formal education or training program.
RPL as a learning process is for self-improvement, personal development, and self-actualization. RPL as a mechanism of credentialing is a discourse of “efficiency, accreditation, competence, access, transparency, equality of opportunity and mobility”. That uses the language of ‘human capital theory,’ in which individuals make decisions about their own ‘investment’ in their education
